Andrew Fox

I am an experienced infrastructure technician having worked in the field for nearly 20 years, with skills covering most common platforms. I am proficient in major software packages including all versions of MS Windows (both Server and Client), MS Office Pro and Unix.

I have a confident and adventurous attitude, and enjoy learning. I have frequently been complimented on my helpful nature and supportive approach in all my previous job roles. These people skills also allowed me to integrate into and work well within a team. My ITIL experience has helped me understand the whole service desk structure and allowed me to assist with complicated issues that are difficult to class as Incidents or Changes.

Microsoft Windows
I have extensive experience with all versions of windows from XP through 7, and the latest versions of Windows 10. Equally, I have worked with all versions of Windows Server, including configuring and troubleshooting roles, and applications.
Microsoft Exchange Server
During my career, I have worked with most versions of Microsoft Exchange Server. While having completed courses and had extensive experience with 2010, these skills have been transferrable for later versions, allowing me to leverage the PowerShell capibilies in all later versions
Linux OS
There are too many versions of Linux based Operating Systems to be expert in each, but I have always been able to complete a given task on each OS using a solid background in Ubuntu, and knowledge of fundermentals. My main skills in this area are focused on Ubuntu and Centos
Microsoft Office
Support for all versions of Microsoft office is essential in any support role, and I have been doing this thoughout my carrer. I have experience in all current versions of the product, from both user level functions, to adminstrative lock-down and customisation policies
VMware
I have worked expasively with VMWare products, starting with the desktop product Workstation, moving through to infrastructure based products like vCenter. The experience extends to the VMWare VCP course.
I have experience with the VMWare View products, but this is from an infrastructre view to setup and support the platform. This includes use of the Horizon tools.
Microsoft SQL Server
I have setup and supported multiple versions of MS SQL server, including the Reporting package. During support for systems with a database backend, you cannot help but need to tinker with the database, which requires knowledge of Transact-SQL, which has helped me solve complex problems quickly.
Backup Systems
I have used multiple backup systems in the past including Symantic BackupExec, Acronis, ArcServe, Bacula, and Veeam. Veeam seems to be the primary choice for virtual platforms (and physical now), and I have used this to a large extent with VMWare
Firewall Systems
I have good experience with multiple firewall vendors, including Checkpoint, Cisco ASA and Watchguard. As such I am knowledgeable in the field of firewall rules,
Scripting/Programming
I am compentent in scripting and programming technicques, and can use these to acomplish tasks that benefit from complex processing or repetition tasks. This is especially useful when using PowerShell commands, but also extends to vbscript, .NET (VB, C#), Linux bash scripts.
Hardware Support
I have performed basic to complex hardware tasks including module replacement, hardware diagnostics and harware enhancement
Server Hardware Support
I am experienced in suporting physical servers. Primarily Dell/HP machines, including the hardware/bios functions, and iLO/DRAC use. I am also comfortable planning and carrying out server enhancments with relevant componends like memory, add-on modules, etc.
Networked Storage devices (SAN/NAS)
I have dealt with multiple SAN and NAS vendors, including Netapp, QNAP, Compellent, and have integrated these into projects involving the use of iSCSI, NFS, CIFS/SMB.

Managerial/Team focused
In my past few years I have worked as a deputy manager, including management of personnel, training, and other management functions in the absence of the IT manager.
I have worked on many projects, either as a sole technical participant, or as a member of a larger team, or a leader of staff. I am equally happy in each role, and am comfortable taking responsibily for the project, while ensuring the team are working towards a common goal.
